What is pelvic floor physical therapy?

Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy is a proven treatment for pelvic pain, discomfort, or change in the muscles of your pelvic region. Women’s health and pelvic physical therapy involves a detailed  examination of the pelvic, hip, lumbar, and lower extremity region in order to prevent, identify, and correct dysfunction that leads to pain. The pelvic floor muscles form the base of your pelvis. These muscles control urination, bowel movements, sexual function, and organ support. The pelvic floor muscles are an important piece of your core which give our back, SI joint, and hips stability.

It is NOT “just kegals”. In fact, most women are doing kegel’s inappropriately. We need your pelvic floor to be able to both lengthen and contract, and be well coordinated. A pelvic floor physical therapist can complete a thorough examination and develop an individualized plan for you optimizing YOUR pelvic floor. This can include an internal pelvic floor examination if necessary.

Pelvic floor physical therapists have advanced and specialized training beyond entry level PT school to treat these types of issues.

Do I need a referral from a doctor to be seen?

No. Missouri is a direct-access state for physical therapy, meaning you do not need a doctor referral to be seen. If your treatment plan lasts longer than 30 days the state law requires an order from a physician to be obtained at that time. For wellness visits, no prescription is needed.

Why do you not accept insurance?

We were tired of working in the insurance driven health care system, where your insurance benefits are more important than why you are seeking care. We want to be able to treat you as a whole person and not let insurance companies dictate our plan of care. We want to offer the highest quality of care to our patients. We choose to see all patients 1-on-1 for one hour each session, which is not possible with insurance reimbursement. Under insurance contracts, we are limited to how much time we can see you and what treatments we are allowed to provide. Insurance will often only cover treatments per condition or body part. To provide the best quality care we have chosen to not contract with insurance companies. We don’t want insurance companies dictating how we treat patients and we don’t think you should either. We accept payment at the time of service and can provide you with superbill to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.

How do I submit a claim to my insurance for possible reimbursement?

You may be able to receive reimbursement from your insurance company based on your “out of network” benefits. If this interests you, you can obtain information regarding your coverage by contacting your insurance company and requesting information regarding coverage for “out of network physical therapy”. We will provide you with a superbill (itemized documentation) upon request, which is necessary information to submit to your insurance company. Seeking and obtaining reimbursement for services is the sole responsibility of the patient.

What makes Elevate 360 Physical Therapy different from clinics that accept insurance?

When you work with Dr. Abby or Dr. Nicole, you get one on one care during your entire session. We only work with one client at a time allowing us to give you the highest quality treatment. It is important to us that you feel heard and supported all along your journey and we work together with you to make your treatment plan. This allows us to empower you and give you the strategies and tools to reach your goals.

I have Medicare. Can you work with me?

Elevate 360 Physical Therapy is not a Medicare provider and we do not provide physical therapy services for those individuals with Medicare. We can provide you with a wellness based program, but that is not considered medical treatment and would be a fee for service visit.
